My parents have been going here for over twenty years and i just discovered recently that the steak is not the only good thing there. They have chicharones, which comes as strips of pork with tons of flavor! Awesome stuff, really fatty They also have cow's tongue, which tastes like pot roast and tripe soup--really hearty -I love the sides as well--rice, plantains, etc.

Split the Colombian sampler with sirloin and it served two! Simple food, cooked well, for cheap. I'd go back if I was in the area, but won't be making a special trip.

The Bandeja Colombiana is my favorite everytime I visit El Paisa. If you can't hop on a plane to Colombia might as well get in the car and go to El Paisa. They serve authentic Colombian drinks, liquors and of course food from the beautiful country of Colombia. And if you make through the door when Colombian Futbol is on, this place is where you want to be when watching it. Even if you don't happen to be Colombian, they will still treat you well, the staff is friendly and the food is some of the best in the state.

The food here is great, the amount of food you get for the money is unbelievable. The parking situation is a problem, but that is the case for any business located on Dexter street.

I was working on a job at a house on Lonsdale Ave, and found this place. Its in the combat zone on Dexter Street, but once you get inside you will feel comfortable. The menu is hundreds of lines long and could be easily simplified ("the dishes above, all served with the following:"). The service here is antisocial. Both times I went I had to go to the kitchen window to find my server, a lovely girl with marginal English skills. The roasted chicken is only served on Saturdays. I had the steak with rice, beans, plantains and maize bread. Pretty satisfying lunch for around $10. The server never asked if it was good, or offered the check, or gave change. I did all these things myself, at the window. Got a 10 back from my 20 and was dismissed. Adios!

Very good food and friendly service. Very generous portions for a great price! We had a party of 8 people (4 being kids) and all the food came out correctly and it was delicious.

Arepas con queso were soooo gooood. I have never had Colombian food but now I know I love it. The portions are huge but very tasty. The server was polite and very quiet but attentive. I would definitely return

Solid, inexpensive dinner. My friend and I split the platter with the roast chicken, and we also ordered the cheese bread as an appetizer. Very reasonable prices (hard to spend more than $15 a person).

My daughter ordered the Colombian Platter from there to go. She sicked up the food and when she arrived home realized she had the wrong order. We called El Paisa who said that they had our order there and apologized. They said they would have the delivery man bring us the right order and ick up the wrong one. About 25 minutes later they called us back and said the delivery man is too busy we would have to come back to get the order if we still wanted it.I was furious, my daughter was hungry its now been another half hour we waited and we have to go back if we want this. I asked to speak to a manager which they said there was noone there at the time. I then asked if we would be getting a refund on this meal for our inconvenience which again they stated no they will not do this. Long story short when we went back to ick up the meal she originally paid for they argued with us about giving the order as we forgot to bring the other WRONG ORDER. I told them if they wanted it they can have their delivery man come gt is as promised. The woman threw our order at us and yelled enjoy!!! I work in the restaurant industry (fine dining) and I can not believe the low level of customer service I experienced here. We have been going there for years and we will never go back we will stick with La Casona!!!! Excellent service there!!

I just moved about four blocks away a few months ago and I am delighted to find this restaurant. My favorite comfort food dinner is roast chicken, rice and beans. Maybe a salad on the side. I tried the half-chicken dinner with plantains, rice and beans for aprox $11. It was great! And the portion was so large that I had two meals from my one order. The flavorings on the chicken are terrific. Ill be back to try more offerings.

El Paisa is a Central Falls gem. The food is full of flavors and served in large quantities. For starters I had the tamale (with pork inside). For dinner, I had the grilled fish (snapper), chicharon, and carne entree. The fish was not bad and thankfully not over-salted. The chicharon was a bit tough to bite into but definitely worth a few chipped teeth. The carne was probably the best of the three, juicy and full of flavor. Sadly they were out of tres leche desserts so I settled with the torta de guayaba (dessert) which was not the best. I will definitely return.

Ok seriously, thank God for yelp. My boyfriend and I would never have found this delicious Colombian place. We both had the bandeja Colombiana, suggested by a yelp review and it was perfect. I am Colombian and this is my favorite dish and I order it anywhere I can. The beans, rice, plantains, salad, yuca, potatoe, chicharon were all really good. My chicken breast was amazing. Couldn't get enough of the taste. The churrasco was huge and delicious. 5 stars all the way. We also got our food in about 5 minutes :)

El Paiza is my guilty pleasure! I get the same thing every time I go- arepas con queso, un chicharron, yuca frita, y papas and it is always delicious. The service can take a little long and sometimes they run out of arepas, but it is ALWAYS delicious and the staff is very nice, though if you only speak English (I speak hardly any Spanish and barely understand it) you might struggle a little without a translator, but their menu is in English and Spanish so you'll do fine, just try it! You will not regret it! Would also be nice if they accepted cash, but there is an ATM on site.

The good here is excellent. The meats are well prepared and the food always tastes the same. They also deliver! The only thing that would make this place better is if they took credit cards

Great food at reasonable prices. There was so much food!!!! We all had the bandejo and it was really tasty. The only thing I didn't like was that it was cash only.

My friends and I used to come here in college when we were craving meat for a relatively good price. The steak, rice, and beans really mix well together, and the place has a nice vibe going.

Being of Colombian descent and having lived in Colombia, I can vouch for the authenticity of El Paisa. The food is wonderful and a great selection of Colombian cuisine and treats. Best of all, it is decently priced and their entrees are filling. My personal favorites are the Mojarra and Churrasco, accompanied with a ceviche as apppetizer. If you cannot make up your mind and are starving for food, you can also give the Bandeja Paisa a try, a combination platter that brings rice, beans, steak, chicharon, potatoes, and eggs. The environment inside the restaurant is also nice, with a friendly, family feel to the place. I highly recommend to anyone interested in trying Colombian cuisine in the Providence area.

I went there last night and decided to try their Whole Fried FIsh (Mojarra Frita). I ordered it with rice, beans, salad and maduros (instead of the arepa). The fish was fried right, very crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. There was no strong seasoning or marinate, so the meat itself was a bit bland. I am glad I tried it... I wil get the Churrasco next time. If I compare their food to La Casona, I like La Casona better....But, El Paisa has more of a restaurant ambiance....

From out of town, working on a project. Found El Paisa through Yelp. We were looking for a Mexican restaurant and found this Columbian restaurant in Central Falls. Two of us each had the Columbian Dinner - I had mine with Cow Tongue and my colleague had Pork. The food was excellent and the Margaritas for $5.00 were phenomenal, definitely adding this restaurant to my return list. They have a picture with Hillary Clinton visiting during a 2008 campaign.

Fantastic fried whole red snapper. Don't love their rice, however. Wish they had Colombian beer!

I gave it a so score for the over all of all my visits, including the take outs. The food used to be so much better, now it is just ok. Also on one of my visits i purshased an empanada and it had a hair on the filling which is just gross, the lady that works there said it was normal. seriously....... it is not normal , it is gross..... I am Colombian my self and i just hate not to give it a better score.

If you want Colombian Food this is the place. I've had just about everything on the menu and you can't go wrong. The Colombian Plater is a great dish if you are familiar with Colombian food, you get lots of meat steak or pork also get a slice of bacon, plantains, potato, yuca and rice and beans LOVE IT. The arepas the chocolo con quesito (Cheese) are awesome and have that authetic taste you can't get any where else. Try the empanadas, bunuelos (cheese fritter) and pan de queso. The Mondogo (Tripe Stew) will fill and warm you up, just like my grandmothers and the fried Red Snapper is always cooked just right. This is not the place if you are a vegeterian, lot of fried meats!!!

If you have ever been to Central Falls you have passed/seen El Paisa. My mother in law was over the other day and we decided to take her here since the menu is translated and I've had a bunch of referrals. The waitress was very nice and patient. I ordered the "pollo a la brasa" which is a juicy tender chicken breast that is grilled to perfection with a side or Rice and Beans and "Maduros" (Plaintains). My husband and mother in law ordered a whole "pollo asado" (roasted chicken). We loved the chicken - the only thing we did NOT like was the beans! The beans looked like they were canned and heated without added seasoning. A big NO-NO for us Hispanic folks. Other than that their arepas are amazing! I have no problem going back but it wouldn't be my first option and will probably try something else on their menu.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
